Have you read Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant by Veronica Roth yet? If not, check them out in The Hub. If you have and are looking for something similar, check out this article "25 Books To Try If You Loved Divergent," on BuzzFeed. We have MANY of these books in The Hub!
Sixth grade students in Miss Consiglio's Health class are learning all about Internet Safety and being a good digital citizen this month. This includes researching facts about cyberbullying and presenting that new knowledge on a poster for other Wood Hill students to access. Students made print based posters as well as digital posters on Smore. Check them out around the hallways at Wood Hill and online. School librarians from across the country met from Nov. 14-17, in Hartford, CT for the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) 16th National Conference & Exhibition. I attended the conference and learned some new skills I can't wait to share with Wood Hill students---and oh yeah, got to hang out with famous authors! Here I am with Bomb author Steve Sheinkin and West Middle School Digital Learning Specialist Shelley Coughlin! 8West students are currently reading Sheinkin's book The Notorious Benedict Arnold. I met Sheinkin and got him to sign copies of his novels Bomb and Lincoln's Grave Robbers. So stop by and check out the author signed copies in The Hub! Check out this visualization of the Libraries of the Future. The visualization was adapted from PewInternet.com, of a keynote address for the 2012 State University of New York Librarians Association Annual Conference.
Thanks to West Middle School Digital Learning Specialist Shelley Coughlin for this wonderful info…. Some of you may be familiar with author John Green, who penned some amazing young adult novels such as The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska. John and his brother Hank have a web series called Nerd Fighters, where they vlog together about various topics. Hank also had an idea to make a modern adaptation of a classic novel, and came up with the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, a vlog style journal based on Pride and Prejudice. Enjoy! |
