Students on 6West showcased their research projects in front of peers, their parents and school administration including Principal Patrick Bucco, Assistant Superintendent Nancy Duclos, teachers and library staff, on Thursday night, May 8 at Memorial Hall Library. Each student presented their project on a person, place or element of Andover's history.
Over the last two months, Ms. Desjardins' students researched their topic, wrote a research paper and works cited page, and then created a presentation using various types of technology. They began their research at Memorial Hall Library viewing primary sources and touring the Andover Room and then completed it at The Hub. Students worked with Miss Menesale learning how to use EasyBib to create Works Cited pages. They then chose from a variety of tools to present their research. Students could use avatar programs Tellagami or Voki, create a skit using the green screen equipment and iMovie, create an interactive digital poster using Smore or Glogster, or create slideshow presentations using Haiku Deck or ExplainEverything.
Their presentations were a hit! Audience members learned all about famous Andover citizens like Jay Leno and J. Everett Collins to places like Frye Village and the Ballardvale Mills.
